DIR's high school volunteer opportunity, TechQuest: Empowering Future Innovators, is available only to students currently enrolled in high school, aged 16-18. Students applying for this volunteer program must possess academic performance that is considered in good academic standing by high school standards. Volunteer Summary The TechQuest: Empowering Future Innovators high school volunteer program will provide valuable learning opportunities and exposure to different areas of the executive administration industry as outlined below:
•Learns administrative support functions for multiple divisions within the agency.
•Learns how parking and building access tasks are performed to ensure compliance.
•Assists with the preparation and routing of training and development forms for approvals.
•Assists with employee engagement and recognition programs.
•Assists with maintaining forms and documents.
•Shadows the travel authorization process for reimbursement requests and travel logistics for agency events and conferences.
•Shadows the Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System (CAPPS) process for equipment, supplies, licenses, and training purchases.
•Shadows other programs as needed.
Qualifications: Education •Must be a current high school student.
•Must possess good standing high school academic records.
Qualifications •Ability to establish and maintain effective and cordial working relationships at all organizational levels, including agency management, direct supervisors, co-workers, internal and external customers.
•Ability to understand, follow and convey brief oral and/or written instructions.
•Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner.
•Ability to comply with all agency policy and applicable laws.
•Ability to comply with all applicable safety rules, regulations, and standards.
Computer Skills •Proficiency in the use of a computer and applicable software necessary to perform work assignments e.g., word processing, spreadsheets (Microsoft Office preferred).
Other Requirements •Regular and punctual attendance at the workplace.
•Criminal background check.
Working Conditions •Frequent use of computers, copiers, printers, and telephones.
•Frequent standing, walking, sitting, listening, and talking.
•Frequent work under stress, as a team member, and in direct contact with others.
•Occasional bending, stooping, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and climbing.
•Occasional passenger in DIR's vehicles to visit other DIR locations. CAPPS
